So there we go to have a little personal Christmas celebration to Starlite on Monday night. Cute little fancy place with a few tables. SD and I sat across from each other. I was the lucky one who could see the whole restaurant while Super Dave had to face a brick wall and me. Poor guy.
Most of the few tables were taken. A young crowd celebrating a birthday -- the girl must have been turning 18 or something like that (they all look so young). Another table with a group of lady friends. And there was this guy sitting at table in the corner drinking a Pacifico. Suddenly this other guy comes out from the bathroom and heads to that corner table. I see that guy and he seems very familiar.... Did he and I ...mmm... something at one point in my single years? Is he a friend of someone? Does he work at UT? (Yeah, right!) and then it hit me... It's Luke Wilson!!! Oh my God!! Luke Wilson has just sat down to drink a Pacifico less than 10 ft away from me.... Cool!
"David, David -- one of the Wilson brothers is here!"
"Who?"
"One of the Wilson brothers -- Luke Wilson is here!"
"Who?" [oh Lord, I'm about to kill him]
"We just see him in Idiocracy."
"Ahhhh" [finally!]
Of course I can be totally mistaken but I am pretty good with faces. Last summer I ran into Quentin Tarantino during lunch in Guero's here in Austin. This time it was a close and personal encounter... to the point that when he walked towards me in that crowded place I just said "Hiiiiiii" and then 2 seconds later...."I know you!"
Quentin very calmly and a little bit embarassed said, "I'm Quentin". "I'm Alejandra" I replied and I finally got it!!!!! "My God!!!! I just shook Quentin Tarantino's hand!!!!!!!"
The funniest thing was that later on on that same day we went to Hula Hut and guess who is having margaritas and fajitas at Hula Hut? Quentin Tarantino... Yes, twice in one day...
I wonder what Luke W was doing in Austin, TX...
